HOL CHAN / SHARK-RAY ALLEY Full day snorkel trip (lunch not included)

HOL CHAN / SHARK-RAY ALLEY / CORAL GARDENS
Got a whole day to spare? Then this snorkel trip is for
you. Departure time is at 10:30 in the morning. Be at
the snorkel shop at 10:15 to fit your gear. It's now
10:30 a.m. Away we go!!
First stop is at the Hol Chan Marine Park. The Hol
Chan Marine Park is an underwater park teeming
with marine life. It is not unusual to spot formations of
rays or even several sharks. Since this is a protected
area, and the guides are keen on feeding the fish,
several schools have gone back home to notify their
family and friends of the bountiful life here and what
we have now is simply nothing short of an amazing
wild aquarium. Friendly fishes are everywhere.
Accustomed to the bait or "chump" thrown
their way by the guides, the fish come clamoring
even to the sound of the boat engine. Water depth
in the marine park can range anywhere from waist
deep to about 15 feet deep, depending on what
spot you are.
Done snorkeling and hungry? Cool! Second stop after
the Marine Park is on neighboring Ambergris Caye.
Bring your own lunch or you can purchase lunch
there. Ambergris Caye is the largest and most
inhabited island in Belize. Take your time and tour the
town. Lag time here is about an hour and a half.
Still in the adventurous mode? Let's head back in the
boat then to our third stop (2nd snorkeling stop), the
Coral Gardens. The Coral Gardens is as its name says.
It is a patch of reef area where the corals form
gardens around you. Snorkel among the varied
corals in this area and spot some strange looking
exotic fish. When you get tired, it's time to continue.
Third snorkeling stop is at the famous Shark and Ray
Alley. Shark and Ray Alley is an area of the reef, aptly
named because of the large amount of hugely
curious sharks and sting rays that inhabit the area.
Used to being fed by the guides, they come
swarming as soon as the sound of the boat engine is
heard. Pet a shark. Your guide will bring it to you.
Touch a stingray. Your guide will bring it to you.
And for this trip, be sure to bring your camera. No
one at home will believe you!!
Take care and enjoy your day!
